Our goal is to help you maximize your production of high
quality milk through better herd health and sanitation practices.
We are the worlds leader in iodine technology.
More than 35 years ago, our chemists patented improved iodine complexing
chemistry. That pioneering work helped to create I-tech, the first
stable, high free iodine technology. When added to our premium
iodine teat dips, I-techwith its 68 parts per million (ppm)
of free iodinekilled more mastitis-causing pathogens
faster than conventional iodine teat dips. Today, our researchers have
taken the science of free iodine to the next level: I-tech2
High Free Iodine Technology.
This patented breakthrough doubles the free iodine levels
to 1216 ppm, increasing the germkilling power of our original I-tech
formulation. It can oxidize organic matter and destroy mastitis-causing
pathogens quickly. Iodine teat dips are the most efficacious, cost-effective,
safest and gentlest dips available. Iodine has powerful germicidal activity.
Iodine is one of Natures most interesting elements. Iodine is an
excellent germicide because it has the broadest spectrum of germicidal
activity. Its able to kill organisms that are resistant to other
germicides. Only freeiodine kills pathogens. To be of practical
use as a germicidal teat dip, however, iodine must be combinedor
complexed with other substances. Complexed iodine has no germkilling
power. It merely acts as a reservoir for the bulk of the iodine molecules
in the solution. Only free iodine destroys bacteria. Thats
why the goal of our iodine-based technology is to elevate the levels offree
iodine for maximum germ-killing power. Free iodine is the
active portion of iodine not bound to the complexing agent that actually
oxidizes, or burns up, germs. The concentration of unbound, free
iodine in a teat dip solution is determined by the complexing chemistry.
This concentration is balanced maintained in a state of equilibriumas
the iodine molecules continually move between the complexed state and
the free state. Iodine teat dips list only the available (complexed)
iodine on their label. But that isnt what kills bacteria. For example,
the available iodine in a conventional 1.0% iodine teat dip may measure
10,000 ppm, yet it may have only 1 ppm of germ-killing free
iodine. Most of the iodine is tied up with the complexors, and not available
to kill mastitis-causing pathogens. Whats more, when the 1 ppm of
free iodine is oxidized, it will be replaced only by 1 ppm
of free iodine from the complexed state. That means at best,
the teat dip will maintain the same low level of free iodine
to kill germs. I-tech2 delivers more broad spectrum protection against
mastitis-causing pathogens. I-tech2 is a new patented technology. The
unique formulation complexes the iodine so that it delivers
more free iodine 1216 ppm of free
germ-killing iodine for superior germicidal activity. As the free
iodine is used, more free iodine is released from the reservoir
of complexed iodine in equilibrium amounts. Because I-tech2 generates
higher amounts of free iodine, it can release more complexed
iodine to maintain this high level of free iodine to kill
bacteria. Conventional iodine teat dips have only 12 ppm of germ-killing
free iodine. Veterinarians and producers recognize that mastitis
is the most costly disease facing a dairy operation. It causes stress
on producer profitability and herd health. I-tech2 is an exciting new
advancement in the science of mastitis prevention, and the next generation
of stable, high free iodine formulation. I-tech2 has been
designated a significant technology advancement and was awarded a patent
by the United States government. Teat dips with I-tech2 have 1216
ppm of freeiodine and can kill more mastitis-causing pathogens
faster.I-tech2 has the highest levels of free iodine, for
greater germ-killing power. Simply stated, teat dips with more free
iodine have greater germicidal speed and power. The higher levels of free
iodine kill more mastitis-causing pathogens faster, to better protect
the teat canal from infection than conventional iodine teat dips. This
in turn helps reduce costly mastitis infections, to help improve milk
quality and overall herd health. Our new I-tech2 technology delivers an
unprecedented 12-16 ppm of stable, free iodine. Thats
up to 16 times more free iodine to destroy mastitis-causing
pathogens by oxidation. And the same high level of 12-16 ppm of free
iodine is maintained due to the established equilibrium, to
maximize germ-killing power. I-tech2 is also gentle on teats. Products
enhanced with I-tech2 have excellent skin conditioning qualities. To make
an effective iodine teat dip, the iodine must be changed from its natural
solid state to a liquid form. Plus it must be made stable and less prone
to vaporizing, and gentle enough to be used on delicate teat skin. To
accomplish this, most conventional iodine teat dips use harsh detergents
to dissolve iodine into a liquid. To counteract the harshness, these dips
use high levels of emollients. However, due to the harshness that must
be overcome, the emollients are not free to provide a real improvement
in skin condition. I-tech2 is naturally gentle and non-irritating. So
added emollients can be used for skin conditioning. And a healthy, supple
teat is Natures best defense against mastitis infections. I-tech2:
the breakthrough in mastitis control top producers are looking for. Working
to perfect mastitis control through iodine chemistry, our researchers
have developed the next generation of free iodine technology.
I-tech2 greatly maximizes the production of free iodine and
improves the germ-killing power of our iodine teat dips that feature this
patented technology. New I-tech2:
Delivers the next generation of high free
iodine
technology.
Provides far higher levels1220 ppmof fast-acting,
broad spectrum free iodine.
Improves the germ-killing power of our previous teat dip
formulations against significant mastitis-causing
pathogens.
Is gentler on teats for better skin conditioning.
Greatly reduces the incidence of mastitis.
Was developed by our researchers and protocol tested
for efficacy by the guidelines of the National Mastitis Council.
Offers a significant technology advancement which was
awarded U.S. Patent No. 5,916,581.
